- Gear pump: When a pair of meshing gears rotate, the sealed volume
formed by the tooth groove and the pump body changes. The volume of
the side where the gear is disengaged (the oil suction chamber)
increases, and the hydraulic oil is sucked in; the volume of the
side that enters the meshing (the oil pressure chamber) decreases,
and the hydraulic oil is discharged. The change of its sealed
volume is directly determined by the meshing of the gear teeth, and
the structure is simple, relying on the gap seal between the gears.
- Vane pump: When the rotor rotates, the vanes extend under the
action of centrifugal force or springs, forming multiple sealed
volumes with the inner surface of the stator. As the rotor rotates,
the sealed volume increases in the "large diameter section" of the
stator (oil suction) and decreases in the "small diameter section"
(oil pressure). The change in sealed volume is achieved by the
curved shape of the inner surface of the stator and the expansion
and contraction of the vanes, which has better sealing and more
uniform flow.
- Plunger pump: The plunger reciprocates in the plunger hole of the
cylinder body to change the sealed volume formed by the plunger and
the cylinder body. The volume increases when the plunger extends
(oil suction), and decreases when it retracts (oil pressure). The
change in sealed volume is directly driven by the axial movement of
the plunger, with high pressure and high efficiency, and the
sealing is achieved by the precise matching of the plunger and the
cylinder body.
Simply put, a gear pump is a type of hydraulic pump. The

changed by gear meshing, while other types of hydraulic pumps are
changed by vanes,
